Reigning AMA Supercross Champion Jett Lawrence suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the Glendale Supercross.
The injury occurred early in the third race of the Glendale Triple Crown when Lawrence dabbed his right foot in a corner to maintain balance. He immediately pulled off the track in visible pain. An initial assessment by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical unit didn’t reveal any serious injury, but a subsequent MRI confirmed the ACL tear, along with a small tear to his meniscus.
Lawrence underwent surgery on February 4, 2025, in Orange County, California. The procedure was successful, and his medical team is optimistic about his recovery. While the typical recovery time for an ACL injury can be extensive, there is hope that Lawrence might return to competition earlier than initially anticipated.
Expressing his determination, Lawrence stated, “Rehabbing will be my new full-time job, so I hope to see you guys as soon as possible! I’m super-bummed to let the fans down, and I can’t wait to get back out there.”
Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda, added, “Injuries are a part of racing though, and everyone at Honda is pulling for Jett to have a successful surgery and a good recovery. We know this is just a speedbump and that Jett will be back as strong as ever.”
As Lawrence embarks on his rehabilitation journey, fans and the motocross community eagerly await his return to the track. His resilience and commitment to recovery suggest that he may be back in action sooner than expected, ready to continue his pursuit of excellence in the sport.
