Rush has officially announced the release of their long-awaited studio album, Eternal Signals, marking their first major project in over a decade. Fans across the world have been waiting for this moment since the band’s 2012 release Clockwork Angels, and now, the prog-rock icons are finally ready to make their triumphant return. The new album will arrive on November 22, 2025, through Anthem Records, reigniting the legacy of one of rock’s most technically gifted and emotionally resonant bands.
After years of speculation about whether Rush would ever record again following the passing of legendary drummer Neil Peart in 2020, this project has been described as both a tribute and a continuation. Surviving members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have reunited in the studio, with the help of archival drum tracks and carefully curated performances from Peart’s unreleased recordings. The result, they say, is an album that feels deeply alive — a bridge between past brilliance and future possibility.
In a recent interview, Geddy Lee shared that Eternal Signals was “about the idea that music never dies — it echoes through time, through us, through the people who listen.” The concept of signals and continuity runs throughout the record, representing both Peart’s lyrical genius and the band’s enduring energy. Lifeson added, “We wanted this to feel like Rush, not a shadow of it. Every note we played, we felt Neil’s presence guiding us.”
Recording sessions for Eternal Signals took place primarily in Toronto, with additional production completed in Los Angeles. The band collaborated with long-time producer Nick Raskulinecz, who also worked on Snakes & Arrows and Clockwork Angels. Raskulinecz described the experience as “a reunion that didn’t just revisit the past — it evolved it.”
Musically, Eternal Signals promises to be classic Rush — dense arrangements, shifting time signatures, and transcendent lyrical themes. Yet it also embraces modern textures, incorporating ambient synth layers, analog warmth, and experimental guitar tones that push their sound into new territory. Early listening sessions have reportedly left fans and critics awestruck.
The album’s lead single, “Beyond the Static,” is set to premiere worldwide on October 30, 2025, and has already been teased in snippets across the band’s official channels. It’s described as an electrifying blend of Lifeson’s soaring guitars and Lee’s haunting vocals, underpinned by Peart’s powerful rhythmic precision.
Rush’s Eternal Signals also features several guest musicians, including a cameo appearance by Danny Carey of Tool, who contributed additional percussion textures to select tracks. There’s also a surprise instrumental interlude that pays homage to the band’s Moving Pictures era — a nod that long-time fans will instantly recognize.
Lyrically, the album continues Peart’s tradition of introspection and philosophical depth. Themes of time, existence, memory, and the infinite nature of art dominate the songs. One poignant line from “Eternal Signals (Part II)” reads, “What fades is only silence — the sound remains.” It captures the emotional gravity of this comeback perfectly.
Fans will have multiple formats to choose from: vinyl, CD, digital, and a deluxe collector’s box set. The box set will include a 40-page art book, handwritten lyric reproductions, and a documentary Blu-ray titled Signals Still Eternal, chronicling the making of the album and the band’s journey after Peart’s passing.
To coincide with the release, Rush has announced a short commemorative tour beginning in December 2025, covering select cities in North America. Tentative stops include Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, and Tokyo. Each show will feature visual tributes to Peart and immersive, futuristic stage design inspired by the album’s themes.
